Tunnel Pond in Orofino to Open on April 1, 2022

Orofino, Idaho- The Nez Perce Tribe Fisheries Department will open the fishing season at Tunnel Pond with a no-host free-fishing day on April 1, 2022. Gates will open at 8:00 a.m.  Following opening day, usual regulations and operations will resume with permits being required.

Tunnel Pond will be open to the public April 1-October 31, 2022 and will initially be stocked with 1,500 rainbow trout.  Frequent stocking of Tunnel Pond will continue throughout the season.  In addition, the schedule for all 2022 events at Tunnel Pond is currently being evaluated and notice will be provided at a later date on the dates and times of any other events.

Nez Perce Tribal Trout Fishing Permits are required for all non-tribal anglers ages 14 and older. Permits are available for purchase at the Orofino Marketplace, The Guide Shop (Orofino), Nez Perce Express II (near Clearwater River Casino), and Dale & Jill’s Sporting Goods (Kamiah) or can be purchased online at https://www.nptfishpermits.com/. Permits are $5 for a single day, $25 for an Idaho resident annual permit, and $30 for a non-resident annual permit.
