Ashton Theodore Picard, son of the late Andre Picard Sr. and Leanna Lewis, comes from a distinguished lineage including grandparents Eugene Picard, Theodora Allman, Etta Conner, and Harry Lewis. A father to six, Ashton upholds traditional family values and embodies responsible parenthood.

Professionally, Ashton is renowned for his leadership qualities, notably representing his community at various conferences and events in Indian country. He is a strong advocate for youth investment to preserve the Nez Perce Tribe’s culture, language, and heritage, contributing significantly to youth camps and community initiatives.

A Lewiston High School alumnus (Class of 2010), Ashton furthered his education with an Associate’s Transfer Degree and a Bachelor’s in Tribal Government and Business Management from Northwest Indian College. Presently, Ashton is in his first term on the Nez Perce Tribal Executive Committee (NPTEC), serving as the NPTEC Chaplain. His role spans multiple subcommittees including Budget & Finance, Law & Order/ Intergovernmental Affairs, and the Land Enterprise Commission. Ashton is the Vice Chair of the Natural Resource Subcommittee and plays a key role in the Climate Change/ Energy subcommittees. His diverse contributions reflect his deep commitment to his community and the overarching goals of the Nez Perce Tribe.
