Fireworks Discharge Ban in Effect on the Nez Perce Reservation

Lapwai, ID – In response to extremely dry and hazardous conditions, the Nez Perce

Tribal Executive Committee (NPTEC) has authorized a reservation wide ban on the

discharge of fireworks, effective immediately.

This action was taken through formal motion and second, as permitted under Section 6-

4-8 of the Nez Perce Tribal Code, which grants NPTEC authority to enact safety-related

closures during emergency or high-risk conditions.

The health and safety of community members, homelands, and natural resources are of

utmost importance. As fire risk remains critically high, tribal law enforcement officers

will be strictly enforcing this ban.

The Nez Perce Tribe appreciates the public’s cooperation in protecting the land and

community during this high-risk fire season.
