Ryan L. Oatman serves as Vice-Chairman of the Nez Perce Tribal Executive Committee. With a rich family heritage in the Nez Perce community, Ryan is the son of Kenneth Oatman and Paula Walker Moody. His lineage includes his paternal grandmother Loda Sublett, maternal grandfather Jerry Walker, and maternal grandparents Ron & Lois Oatman.


Ryan’s educational journey began in the Kamiah and Lapwai school districts, culminating in his graduation from Lapwai High School in 1995. He pursued higher education, earning a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from Lewis-Clark State College and a Master of Social Work (MSW) from Boise State University.


With over two decades of dedicated service to the Nez Perce Tribe, Ryan has held significant roles. He was the Interim Director for Child Protection Services and the Director of the IVision Program. His diverse experience within the tribe extends to various departments, including the Nez Perce Tribe Fisheries Department, Headstart & Early Childhood Development, Students for Success Program, and as a Patient Advocate at NMPH. Ryan’s extensive work reflects his deep commitment to his community and his expertise in tribal governance and social services.
