VISION

The Watershed Division is focused on protecting, restoring, and enhancing watersheds and all treaty resources throughout Nez Perce Territory, as described under the Treaty of 1855.  These activities are accomplished using a holistic approach, which encompasses entire watersheds, ridge-top to ridge-top, emphasizing all cultural aspects.

GOALS

Protect and restore watersheds and fisheries habitat to the rivers and streams that support the historical, cultural, and economic practices of the Tribe.  Emphasize strategies that rely on natural fish production and healthy river ecosystems to achieve this goal.  Protect tribal sovereignty and treaty rights guaranteed under the Treaty of 1855.  Reclaim the anadromous fish resource and the environment on which it depends for future generations.
