CLASS TITLE: TECHNICIAN II FLSA
DEPARTMENT: FISHERIES and NATURAL RESOURCES GRADE: 11
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF CLASS
The purpose of the class is to carry out assigned duties
relating to the collection, compilation, analysis, and written presentation of
information as well as perform technical applications of fieldwork pertaining
to fisheries and other natural resources of interest to the Nez Perce Tribe.
Responsibilities require employee to follow:
- Tribal programs listed as “Common Duties”, and
- Department programs listed as “General Duties”, and
- Division and Project/contract specific duties listed as
Read and comply with all appropriate Tribal policy and
procedures; e.g., Human Resource Manual (HRM), Vehicle and Safety Manual,
Finance Manual, Internal Department and Project guidelines, etc.
Work cooperatively with all Tribal employees or those associated
with the Tribe.
Travel to and from remote working environments.
Work flexible and irregular work schedules; e.g., 8- or 10-day
shift requiring 24 hour per day “On-call” presence.
Maintain daily activity log for project operations at office and

INVOLVEMENT WITH DATA, PEOPLE, AND THINGS
Data Involvement: Requires summarizing, tabulating,
or formatting data or information in accordance with a prescribed schema or
plan to facilitate the identification and extraction of useful information.
People Involvement: Requires speaking or
signaling to people to convey or exchange information of a general nature; may
provide Level I supervision or lead others by determining work procedures and
assigning duties. Participate in work schedule development with supervisor
guidance; task oriented duties; monitor quality control, time and attendance
reports; policy and procedure compliance and reports to supervisors; refer
personnel issues to supervisors; and participate on interview panels and
interview question development.
Involvement With Things: Requires handling or using
machines, tools, or equipment that require moderate instruction or experience
such as computers for data entry, chainsaw, auger, bobcat, power tools, ATV,
snowmobile, light truck, boat, pit tagging software, and other similar
equipment; may involve installation and testing.
Reasoning Requirements: Requires performing
semi-skilled work involving mostly set procedures, but with frequent problems.
Mathematical Requirements: Requires basic algebra
involving variables and formulas, basic geometry involving plane and solid
figures, computing circumferences, areas, and volumes, and computing ratios,
rates, and percents; may use descriptive statistics.
Language Requirements: Requires reading routine
sentences, instructions, regulations, procedures, or work orders; writing
routine sentences and completing routine job forms and incident reports;
speaking routine sentences using proper grammar; may write and read procedures
and instructional manuals.
Mental Requirements: Requires clerical, manual, and
technical tasks requiring a wide range of procedures with intensive
understanding of a restricted field, or complete familiarity with the functions
of a unit or small division of an operating agency; requires normal attention
with short periods of concentration for accurate results and occasional
exposure to unusual pressure.
VOCATIONAL/EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE PREPARATION
Vocational/Educational Preparation: Requires two
years of college education (48 credits). Three years of relevant experience is
equivalent to one-year college.
Special Certifications and Licenses: Requires a valid driver's
license and the ability to be insured under the Tribe's policy.
Requirements: Requires one-year of related experience to project needs and
six-months leadership experience.

Physical and Dexterity Requirements: Requires medium
to heavy work that involves walking or standing most of the time, and exerting
up to 100 pounds of force on a recurring basis.
Environmental Hazards: The job risks exposure to
bright/dim light, dust and pollen, extreme heat and/or cold, wet or humid
conditions, animals/wildlife, fumes and/or noxious odors, traffic, moving
machinery, electrical shock, disease/pathogens, toxic/caustic chemicals, and

smell, depth perception, and texture perception.
JUDGMENTS AND DECISIONS
Judgments and Decisions: Requires being responsible
for guiding others, requiring a few decisions affecting a few coworkers; works
in a stable environment with clear and uncomplicated written/oral instructions,
but with some variations from the routine.
